• Scaling Peer Assessments: An Integrity Report from a Large Engineering Internship

Jinal Gupta, Pavani Ayinampudi, Aditya B. M. V., Prakash Hegade, Rohit Sharma, Sakshi Sharma, Meenakshi V, S. R. S. Iyengar · 2 de octubre de 2026

Assessing learning in large classrooms presents a significant challenge for individual instructors, who may have limited capacity to evaluate the understanding, participation, and assessment behaviour of every student. Peer assessments have been a way of distributing this responsibility among learne…

• An Audit of Measurement Quality and Answer Bias in a Large Classroom-Poll Corpus

Rohit Sharma, Pavani Ayinampudi, Aditya B. M. V., Jinal Gupta, Prakash Hegade, Sakshi Sharma, Meenakshi V, SRS Iyengar · 1 de octubre de 2026

Real-time classroom polls are widely used and increasingly generated with automated assistance, yet the questions themselves are rarely evaluated as measurements. We audit a large corpus of authentic classroom polls, 604 items across 47 sessions answered 340,668 times by 2,807 learners, as a measure…

• Grading Needs a Rubric, Not Intelligence

  Jhen-Ke Lin · 19 de agosto de 2026

Small language models can grade open-ended examination answers as reliably as substantially more expensive models when they grade against an explicit rubric. We test this claim as the design principle behind any-to-bench: a frontier model reads source documents once, at ingestion, to extract each qu…

• Dynamic Evidence Collection Ecosystem for Assessment Integrity and Authentic Competence

Rajan Kadel, Bellal Hossain, Samar Shailendra, Bushra Naeem · 18 de agosto de 2026

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) can produce high-quality essays, code, and design artefacts, challenging the validity of conventional assessments that rely on single-point submissions and product-only grading. This paper proposes a design framework called "Dynamic Evidence Collection Ecos…

• The Effect of High-Frequency, Automatically-marked Formative Assessments on Student Outcomes in A-Level Sciences

Matey Yordanov, Mikhail Bychkov, Andrei Kuchma · 28 de julio de 2026

Traditional human marking in upper-secondary STEM education creates a structural bottleneck that restricts the frequency of formative mock examinations. This quasi-experimental, mixed-methods longitudinal study (N = 142) investigates the efficacy of deploying a fully automated, handwritten assessmen…

• Students' Perceptions of Peer Grading

Uchswas Paul, Jash Shah, Keira McArthur, Aref Babaei, Niranjan Rajendran, Parvez Rashid, Edward Gehringer · 21 de julio de 2026

Peer grading is widely used in education, yet it elicits mixed reactions from educators and students. Although many studies have examined students' views of peer grading, their findings are scattered, and no clear overall picture has emerged. To address this gap, we conducted a mixed-source thematic…

• Student Evaluation of Repeated AI Feedback Across a Semester of Writing

Andres Karjus, Janika Leoste, Tiia \~Oun · 20 de julio de 2026

Generative AI is increasingly used for feedback in higher education, but evidence from repeated classroom use remains limited. This short paper analyses 2988 reflective essay-feedback-appraisal instances from 283 Estonian bachelor students across one semester. Students obtained and assessed feedback…

• SEFORA: Student Essays with Feedback Corpus and LLM Feedback Evaluation Framework

Shayan Peyghambari Oskoui, Norah Almousa, Zhaoyi Joey Hou, Carolina Gustafson, Gayle Rogers, Raquel Coelho, Diane Litman, Xiang Lorraine Li · 2 de julio de 2026

Effective writing feedback is among the strongest drivers of student learning, yet producing it at scale is labor-intensive. LLMs offer a natural path to scaling writing support, but two gaps stand in the way: few public corpora capture how instructors actually deliver feedback in real classrooms, a…

• A Comparative Study of Student Perspectives on Technical Writing Feedback Quality: Evaluating LLMs, SLMs, and Humans in Computer Science Topics

Suqing Liu, Runlong Ye, Christopher Eaton, Bogdan Simion, Michael Liut · 9 de junio de 2026

To address the scalability of feedback in computer science while mitigating the privacy and cost limitations of commercial Large Language Models (LLMs), this study evaluates a locally hosted Small Language Model (SLM). We deployed a quantized Llama-3.1, GPT-4, and human instructors across introducto…

• Hybrid E-Assessment in Higher Education: Semi-Automated Grading of Paper-Based Written Examinations

Hartwig Grabowski, Michael Canz · 9 de junio de 2026

This paper examines the limitations of fully digital and partially digital e-assessment approaches in summative examinations in higher education. The analysis focuses on the didactic narrowing caused by closed question formats and on organizational, technical, and legal constraints that become parti…

• AICoFe: Implementation and Deployment of an AI-Based Collaborative Feedback System for Higher Education

Alvaro Becerra, Alejandra Palma, Ruth Cobos · 7 de mayo de 2026

Effective peer feedback is essential for developing critical reflection in higher education, yet its impact is often limited by the inconsistent quality of student-generated comments. This paper presents the implementation and deployment of AICoFe (AI-based Collaborative Feedback), a system designed…

• AISSA: Implementation and Deployment of an AI-based Student Slides Analysis tool for Academic Presentations

Alvaro Becerra, Diego Gomez, Ruth Cobos · 7 de mayo de 2026

Providing timely and actionable feedback on oral presentation slides is challenging in higher education, particularly in large classes where teachers cannot realistically deliver detailed formative feedback before students present. This paper introduces AISSA (AI-based Student Slides Analysis tool),…

• A Large-Scale Observational Study on Obtaining Lightweight, Randomized Weekly Student Feedback

Yunsung Kim, Hansol Lee, Candace Thille, Chris Piech · 5 de mayo de 2026

Conventional methods of obtaining student feedback on course experience face a fundamental tradeoff between feedback frequency and quality: as feedback requests become more frequent, participation often declines, and responses become less thoughtful over time. To obtain both timely and thoughtful fe…

• Evaluation of Large Language Models' educational feedback in Higher Education: potential, limitations and implications for educational practice

Daniele Agostini, Federica Picasso · 4 de febrero de 2026

The importance of managing feedback practices in higher education has been widely recognised, as they play a crucial role in enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment processes. In today's educational landscape, feedback practices are increasingly influenced by technological advancements, particu…
