• Predicting the Progression of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

Owen Pullen, Amir Jamaludin, Andrew Zisserman · 24 September 2026

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis is defined as a lateral curvature of the spine that develops during adolescence, without known cause. The condition can result in significant pain and disability, and often progresses rapidly during adolescence. The objective of this paper is to predict the progressio…

• TokenSTFormer: A Tokenized Spatial-temporal Attention Model for Holistic Motion Analysis in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Screening

  Dong Chen, Kenneth M. C. Cheung · 18 August 2026

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) is a prevalent spinal deformity in adolescents that, if left untreated, can result in severe health outcomes. Traditional screening methods are limited by subjective interpretation, reliance on professional expertise and low scalability. To address these challen…

• AI Approach for MRI-only Full-Spine Vertebral Segmentation and 3D Reconstruction in Paediatric Scoliosis

Nathasha Naranpanawa, Maree T. Izatt, Robert D. Labrom, Geoffrey N. Askin, J. Paige Little · 21 April 2026

MRI is preferred over CT in paediatric imaging because it avoids ionising radiation, but its use in spine deformity assessment is largely limited by the lack of automated, high-resolution 3D bony reconstruction, which continues to rely on CT. MRI-based 3D reconstruction remains impractical due to ma…

• Clinical-Prior Guided Multi-Modal Learning with Latent Attention Pooling for Gait-Based Scoliosis Screening

Dong Chen, Zizhuang Wei, Jialei Xu, Xinyang Sun, Zonglin He, Meiru An, Huili Peng, Yong Hu, Kenneth MC Cheung · 9 February 2026

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) is a prevalent spinal deformity whose progression can be mitigated through early detection. Conventional screening methods are often subjective, difficult to scale, and reliant on specialized clinical expertise. Video-based gait analysis offers a promising alter…

• Spinal Line Detection for Posture Evaluation through Train-ing-free 3D Human Body Reconstruction with 2D Depth Images

Sehyun Kim, Hye Jun Lee, Jiwoo Lee, Changgyun Kim, Taemin Lee · 16 December 2025

The spinal angle is an important indicator of body balance. It is important to restore the 3D shape of the human body and estimate the spine center line. Existing mul-ti-image-based body restoration methods require expensive equipment and complex pro-cedures, and single image-based body restoration …

• Pedicle Screw Pairing and Registration for Screw Pose Estimation from Dual C-arm Images Using CAD Models

Yehyun Suh, Lin Li, Aric Plumley, Chaochao Zhou, Daniel Moyer, Kongbin Kang · 11 November 2025

Accurate matching of pedicle screws in both anteroposterior (AP) and lateral (LAT) images is critical for successful spinal decompression and stabilization during surgery. However, establishing screw correspondence, especially in LAT views, remains a significant clinical challenge. This paper introd…
