• Token Budget Saturation and Mechanistic Early Detection of Reasoning Non-Convergence in Chain-of-Thought Models

Renuka Oladri, Niveda Jawahar, Abdirisak Mohamed · 24 July 2026

Chain-of-thought reasoning models such as DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-7B exhibit a bimodal convergence pattern: generations either terminate within a token budget (converged) or exhaust it without reaching a conclusion (non-converged). We characterize this phenomenon empirically, showing that converged…

• Designing Conversations with the Dead: How People Engage with Generative Ghosts

Jack Manning, Daniel Sullivan, Dylan Thomas Doyle, Anthony T. Pinter, Jed R. Brubaker · 22 May 2026

We examine how people experience two choices in the design of generative ghosts, AI systems that are trained on data of the dead: representation, where an AI speaks about a deceased person in the third person, and reincarnation, where the AI speaks as the deceased in the first person. Through a qual…

• Understanding the Consequences of VTuber Reincarnation

Yiluo Wei, Gareth Tyson · 15 January 2026

The rapid proliferation of VTubers, digital avatars controlled and voiced by human actors (Nakanohito), has created a lucrative and popular entertainment ecosystem. However, the prevailing industry model, where corporations retain ownership of the VTuber persona while the Nakanohito bears the immens…

• Archetypal cases for questionnaires with nominal multiple choice questions

Aleix Alcacer, Irene Epifanio · 12 January 2026

Archetypal analysis serves as an exploratory tool that interprets a collection of observations as convex combinations of pure (extreme) patterns. When these patterns correspond to actual observations within the sample, they are termed archetypoids. For the first time, we propose applying archetypoid…
